Dyer County offense stalls in loss to Arlington

In a game that saw only a combined six hits between the two Triple-A schools, a two-run third-inning home run proved to be the difference as the Lady Tigers defeated Dyer County 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon in Newbern. It was a hard-fought battle, but, at the end, the Trojans' 1-0 win over South Gibson on Tuesday night proved to be an important one as it clinched the 13A-AA regular season title for Dyersburg's soccer team. "We have a long way to go," Dyersburg head coach Greg Stapleton said. "Right now our confidence is really good. We're 8-1 on the season and 5-0 in the district. Choctaws top Cards behind Barlow one-hitter

Timely hitting as well as a dominating performance from Trysten Barlow on the mound for the Choctaws helped Dyer County move its district record to 2-1 on the season as the Choctaws defeated Brighton 2-0 on Tuesday at Dyer County High School. "Trysten threw well," Dyer County head coach Preston Ozment said. "He's gotten better every game. The more we can get him on the mound, the sharper he is. 'It Was Finished on the Cross: A Living Last Supper'

Jesus' last hours before the crucifixion will be brought to life through music and drama at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church located on Parr Ave. on Sunday, April 19 at 4 p.m. The chancel choir, orchestra and drama team will present 'It Was Finished on the Cross: A Living Last Supper' in which Jesus' select 12, posing as Di Vinci's famous painting of 'The Last Supper,' will tell about their lives and the changes that were made when Christ called them to be His followers. A variety of 12 anthems will be featured in the cantata including 'Wonderful Merciful Savior', 'Just As I Am', 'God So Loved the World', 'How Beautiful', 'And Can It Be That I Should Gain' and 'Were You There'. The church invites the public to join in this very special worship experience as we celebrate our Risen Lord. Area-wide Mission Blitz growing, gearing up for 8th year

County votes on solar amendment

A resolution to amend the text of the Dyersburg Municipal Zoning ordinance for solar farms and accessory solar-collection systems was presented by Dob Johnson on behalf on the planning commission.
