Trojan baseball team honored at cookout

Dyersburg High School honored its Trojan baseball team with a cookout on the baseball field on Tuesday evening. Donald B. Holt, 73, of Tampa, Fla., formerly of Dyersburg, passed away May 2, 2015. Donny, as he was known to family, was the only son of the late Ben and Margaret Parmenter Holt. Joining the Air Force in 1962, he devoted over 22 years to military service. In the Air Force, he worked in several different fields, from radio maintenance to drug and alcohol abuse counseling. After retiring, Donny joined the post office, where he spent an additional 19 years...

Rabies vaccinations offered Saturday

Rabies vaccinations are being conducted Saturday, May 16 from 8-11 a.m. at the Dyer County Animal Hospital, 410 Highway 51 Bypass, Dyersburg. The vaccinations are conducted by the hospital, Dyer County Health Department and Dyersburg-Dyer County Humane Society. The fee is $9 ($7 for the vaccination and $2 for registration). Salter's Chapel AME Church decided to make their dream of a community garden a reality after being approved for a Tennessee Park and Recreation Grant.
