Washer pitching begins Saturday at Farmers' Market

The washer pitching season is under way starting this Saturday, May 16 at the Main Street Farmers' Market in downtown Dyersburg. Local enthusiasts use the dirt floor of the covered pavilion just behind the market building for washer pitching in the shade. This local event will begin at 11 a.m. with all proceeds benefiting Habitat for Humanity. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be available. Vehicle fire diverts traffic

On Thursday morning traffic on Hwy. 51 Bypass was altered due to a vehicle fire located in the turning lane in front of Lowe's Home Improvement store. Five DFD firefighters were dispatched to the scene of a vehicle on fire. The cause is believed to be an electrical issue. The driver of the vehicle evacuated from the van without any injuries.
