Eaton donates to United Way

Jeff Shytle, plant manager of Eaton Corporation presented Scott Conger, president and CEO of United Way of West Tennessee, with a $5,258.86 corporate check. Eaton has been a longtime supporter of United Way along with the many employees that donate generously each year, contributing over $10,000 for the 2014 campaign. 'It is gratifying to see our employees come together to support such a worthy organization. We feel by donating to United Way we are actually supporting 24 local agencies that assist individual working and living in Dyer County.' said Jeff. 'Our success in Dyer County depends on the strength and commitment from companies and their employees. It is rewarding to know we have such amazing volunteers like Jeff Shytle, Brent Jenson, Greg Sunner and many others at Eaton who make United Way a priority. I am grateful for everyone who made this possible,' said Scott.

Crowne Pointe ribbon cutting

On Tuesday, May 12, the Dyersburg/Dyer County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Crowne Pointe Estates Subdivision in Newbern. Tennessee Realty and First Citizens National Bank teamed up to sponsor the event and promote the growing subdivision. Owners, Bill and Geraldine Parks and Johnny and Janice Parks, were joined by Edie Smith, the Tennessee Realty Listing Agent for the property, and Sonya Burks, Edith Dunevent, Tammy Ladd, and Rhonda Heathcott, from First Citizens National Bank's mortgage lending office, for the ceremony while surrounded by family and friends.

Dyer County's Newell stands out at Morehead State

Hearing Dyer County head baseball coach Preston Ozment talk about his former player Nick Newell, the success that the Choctaw alum is enjoying during his senior season at Morehead State as an Eagle outfielder should not be much of a surprise. "When I think of Nick, he is one of the best players we've ever had at Dyer County High School," Ozment said. Dyersburg hires Ayers to fill coaching vacancy

Even before Randy Coffman turned in his official letter of resignation to take over at Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro, the soon-to-be vacancy in the Lady Trojan basketball program drew a load of interest. Dyer County High School holds 2015 commencement ceremonies

Dyer County High School held its commencement ceremony for its senior class of 2015 as family, friends and educators joined the school's seniors for the students' final gathering as members of the high school enrollment. The seniors entered the Dyer County gymnasium to "Pomp and Circumstance" performed by the DCHS concert band. Dyersburg High School hosts overflow crowd for 2015 graduation

Dyersburg High School welcomed a large crowd to celebrate commencement exercises for 165 seniors on Friday, May 15. Due to inclement weather, the ceremony was held in the gym. The house was "packed" with some in the audience having to stand. Members of the Class of 2015 marched to their seats to the traditional "Pomp and Circumstance" followed by an invocation by DHS Senior Class President Emily Bernier and the school chorus singing "Omnia Sol" by Z. ...
