Discovery Park presents 'Riders and Rockabilly Fish Fry'

Children are welcome to grab a towel and head to Discovery Park of America on July 24 and 25 from 5 until 9 p.m. to enjoy giant water slides, face painting and train rides. Admission is free, and there will be live music both evenings, so bring your bag chair and stay awhile. It is part of the Riders and Rockabilly Fish Fry that will open at 5 p.m. both evenings. Fish dinners will be available from Blue Bank Restaurant at a cost of $5 for a child's plate and $10 for an adult plate, plus tax.

Newbern accepts grant for downtown enhancement

City officials plan to have the downtown Newbern triangle completely renovated by next summer. As of Thursday morning, the city accepted an 80/20 TDOT downtown enhancement grant. The grant, which was proposed five years ago, includes accenting the fountain already in place, improving connectivity and walkways, and making the area ADA compatible.
