Emergency officials approve inter-local agreement

The Dyer County E911 board met briefly on Tuesday to elect officers, approve an inter-local cooperation agreement and to hear from Dyersburg 911 Director Mark Grant. Board members approved an inter-local agreement with minimum changes from prior years. Old County Jail serves as Correctional Works Center

Community members may have noticed the old Dyer County Jail has had more traffic than past years. The building is now serving as a 30-bed inmate correctional works center. Ten inmates from the jail's re-entry program were moved into the Dyer County Correctional Works Center on Monday. Inmates in the building are at the closet step possible to being free men. At the center, counseling is provided for the inmates to learn relapse prevention, drug and alcohol education and socialization...
