Higher seedings could still be attainable for Dyer County

While both teams are assured at least one of the top two spots in the District 13AAA Tournament that gets underway Thursday, Feb. 18 in Brighton, both Dyer County basketball teams could still have a shot at regular season district titles, even after costly losses in district play earlier this season, when they take the court at home tonight against Munford.

Trojans lock up third place with win at Alamo

The Trojans assured themselves not only of a home game in the quarterfinals of the District 13AA Tournament on next Tuesday night, but of the highest seed of the four teams playing that night as they utilized a pair of scoring sprees in the second and fourth quarters on their way to a 62-51 win over the Cavaliers at Alamo on Thursday night in the regular season finale.

Kiwanis to host pancake breakfast at DHS

Bring your forks! The Kiwanis Club of Dyersburg will hold its annual pancake breakfast on Feb. 20 at the Dyersburg High School, inside of the commons area. The feeding frenzy is expected to begin at 6:30 a.m. and will continue on until 11:30 a.m.

Isbell addresses concerns, costs of body cameras

Dyersburg Police Chief Steve Isbell recently addressed the Board of Mayor and Aldermen concerning the legalities and privacy issues his department will have to address before opting to obtain body cameras for DPD officers.

Brother, sister in head-on collision on Hwy 78

Thursday, Feb. 11, around 10 a.m. a head-on collision occurred between two vehicles on Hwy. 78 near Broadmoor, Tenn. Both vehicles wound up on opposite sides of the highway in drainage ditches partially filled with water. Jerry Blair was driving a pickup truck, one of the vehicles involved. He was heading south when he noticed a car in the northbound lane coming toward him and swerving. Blair said: "I was going to Bogota and I seen her coming, so I got over as fast as I could. She was coming so fast I got over as far as I could, but she came over and hit me before I even had time to react. I grabbed it (the wheel) with both hands and it (the collision) just pushed me into the ditch down there."

Dyersburg man faces list of charges, bond set at $50,000

A Dyersburg man wanted by law enforcement for violation of probation as well as multiple charges including aggravated burglary, was located and arrested on Wednesday by members of the Dyer County Sheriff's Department, thanks to a tip from Crime Stoppers.
