Dyer County continues 36-year observance of National Day of Prayer

A call to, "Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet," inspired by Isaiah 58:1a, was the theme of this year's National Day of Prayer. The National Day of Prayer serves as a symbolic importance for us as a nation, enabling us to honor, observe, and practice our freedom of faith the way our founding fathers did, seeking the wisdom of God when faced with critical decisions. It stands as a reminder to humbly come before God, seeking His guidance for our leaders and His grace upon us as a people. Establishing the National Day of Prayer as an annual event proves that prayer is as important to our nation today as it was in the earliest days before our nation was formed.

Clydesdales at mall Saturday

On Thursday afternoon the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales arrived in Dyersburg in anticipation of participating in the Strawberry Festival being held on Friday in Humboldt. The 10-horse team will also be at the Dyersburg Mall on Saturday afternoon from noon to 2 p.m. Housed at the Dyer County Fairgrounds during their stay in Dyersburg, the horses were cleaned up on Thursday afternoon. Also traveling with the Clydesdales is their mascot Barley, shown above with Danny Watson.

DCSO searching for home-invasion suspect

The Dyer County Sheriff's Office has obtained a warrant and is actively searching for a suspect reportedly involved in an aggravated burglary, as well as facing theft charges. Kim Walton (aka Kim Anderson), 48, has been charged with the crimes after allegedly entering a residence on Upper Finley Road and leaving with an assortment of items belonging to the victim.

Trojans fall to Rebels in 13AA first round

Despite a strong pitching performance from sophomore Tabor Hurt, the Trojans dropped their opening-round game to Obion County, falling 1-0 to the Central Rebels on Thursday night in the District 13AA Tournament at Milan. After giving up a walk and a hit through the first three innings, Hurt saw his chance at a shutout slip away in the fourth as singles from Hyde and Nance along with a hit batter loaded the bases with two outs leading to Hyde scoring the game's only run on a passed ball to put the Rebels up 1-0 after four innings.. ...
