Dyer County's softball team had a tough day in Jackson on Wednesday as, after being rescheduled twice because of rain, the Lady Choctaws faced off against Hardin County in their 13AAA and regular season finale. On the strength of two goals from Trojan Bryce Gilmore, the Dyersburg soccer team clinched the District 13A-AA title on Tuesday afternoon with a 2-1 win at Crockett County over the Cavaliers. Downtown Newbern getting new look

Newbern's downtown renovation is underway! Construction for the massive renovation started in the center of the downtown area on May 9, and is estimated to be complete by Oct. 18, 2016. A part of a grant that was awarded to the city of Newbern six long years ago, officials have been awaiting this day for quite some time now. The grant will greatly help in the beautification of the area, including the implementation of new landscaping, sidewalks, and streetlights. Members of Ford Construction have begun the renovation procedure at the town's fountain area, and will be working their way through the area in a counterclockwise motion. Members of TLM Associates, the A/E firm handling the renovation will be on site throughout the course of the renovation to ensure the progress of the project.

Proclamation honors Small Business Week

In an effort to draw more attention to the great efforts and strides taken by small businesses every day, which serve as the backbone for our economy, May 1-May 7 has been designated as Small Business Week. By showing support for our locally owned small businesses we help them to continue to generate local jobs and further spur economic growth. Celebrating the importance of Small Business Week, Dyersburg Mayor John Holden and Dyer County Mayor Chris Young issued an official proclamation, alongside the TN Small Business Development Center of Dyersburg State Community College, recognizing the value that all of our community's small businesses play in the success of our local economy.
