Titan missile comes to Discovery Park
(Local News ~ 06/14/16)
Several Obion County citizens saw an amazing sight driving into Union City Sunday evening. A very large Titan One Missile was transported from the Huntsville Space Center in Alabama to Union City, Tennessee by the trucking firm of Leslie Chapman Jr. Inc. For the next few months, the missile will undergo a complete refurbishing. Pictured are Jeff Ursery, Jim Rippy (DPA CEO), and David Ursery. The Ursery brothers are challenged with the task of restoring the missile to pristine condition. Once the missile has been restored it will be on display in STEM Landing near the moon dome just outside the Military Gallery at the park. 'Once I-69 is complete, the Titan missile will be quite the head-turner,' Rippy said. 'People driving down the new I-69 will be even further compelled to stop when they see Discovery Center and this huge missile rising up out of the surrounding cornfields,' he added. Rippy said that the missile is projected to be as tall as the current tower at Discovery Park, and is a gift to the park from NASA.

(Local News ~ 06/14/16)
McIver's Grant Public Library has extended its fine forgiveness program throughout the end of June. Patrons participating in the 'Food for Fines' initiative may return their overdue items and eliminate their fines by bringing in non-perishable food items to benefit a local food bank. Each food item equals one dollar toward fines. All food must be in date. Food items may only be used toward overdue charges, not the cost of replacing lost or damaged items. Here, McIver's Grant Public Library Director Regina Patterson presents Matthew 25:40 with non-perishable food items for the ministry's food pantry.
