Newbern T-Ball All-Stars win district; head to state next week

The Newbern T-Ball All-Stars went undefeated on their way to winning the Southwest District title last week. The team will now advance to the state tournament in Huntingdon next week. Billy Ray James, 61 of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Monday, June 20, 2016, at Tennova Healthcare-Dyersburg Regional in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Born Friday, January 7, 1955 in Trimble, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Hubert James and the late Beulah Bailey James. Amateur radio operators to host ARRL Field Day this weekend

OK, in all honesty there will not be any porcine pilots zipping about in petite planes, but area HAMS will soon be taking to the airwaves for ARRL Field Day 2016. This year's event pays homage to a yearlong event sponsored jointly by the American Radio Relay League and the National Park Service, "National Parks on the Air." All during this year, radio amateurs have been traveling to various locations that fall under the venue of the NPS to broadcast from National Parks, Military Parks, and Historic Battle Fields among other sites.. ...

At 5a.m. a wave of local residents rolled into the downtown Farmers Market, as it commenced its first day of business for the season. With plenty to choose from, this year's Farmers Market housed not only producer-grown quality vegetables and fruits, but also featured an array of handmade products including beeswax soap bars and custom pottery.
