DCHS teacher Smith named Agriculture Teacher of the Year

Dan Smith, a horticulture and agriculture teacher at Dyer County High School, has recently received the esteemed honor of being selected as the 2016 Agriculture Teacher of the Year by the TAAE (Tennessee Association of Agriculture Educators). His acclaim in the Dyersburg and Dyer County community is well known since he is actively involved in so many projects of excellence - district and region wide.

Car Wash USA Express ribbon-cutting

On Thursday, June 9, the Dyersburg/Dyer County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Car Wash USA Express. For the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Manager Randy Wolf was joined by several representatives from Car Wash USA Express including their CEO, Kerry Sewell, along with a group of Chamber diplomats and Chamber President/CEO Allen Hester. After the ribbon was cut, guests were invited to test out the car wash for free. Car Wash USA Express is the largest express exterior car wash in the Mid-South. They offer several levels of car washes that all include free vacuums. Car Wash USA Express is located at 2315 Lake Road across from KFC. City, property owners at odds over maintenance issues

The Street and Sanitation Committee convened at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 23 at City Hall. Items on the agenda included landfill bids and detention area concerns. Earlier this year, in February 2016, research in pursuit of saving taxpayer dollars by outsourcing mowing responsibilities was presented to the Finance Committee and later the Board of Mayor and Aldermen identifying properties in possession of the City of Dyersburg and those that were privately owned properties. The findings showed that the city had been mowing about 10 private properties for over a decade.
