Dyersburg Basketball Academy hosts camp

The Dyersburg Basketball Academy kicked off its annual camp on Tuesday morning as a group of 20 young players turned out to improve their skills at basketball at Dyersburg High School. Dyersburg's Jones named to TSWA All-State team

The postseason honors continue to roll in for Lady Trojan senior standout Paige Jones as the left-handed ace was named to the 2016 Tennessee Sports Writers Association Class AA All-State Team. The selection is Jones' second selection to the TSWA team after helping lead the Lady Trojans to the Class AA State Tournament for the second time in three seasons on the strength of a 30-win season.

Dyersburg State Community College hosted a 'Rockin' Registration' event all day Tuesday, June 28 in the Student Center for students receiving TN Promise Scholarships. Students' first stop upon arrival was the check-in table where they were greeted by (L-R): Rebecca Reeves (Adult Student coordinator), Nikki Shanklin (Student Services), or Whitley Jump (Academic Success student assistant), and directed to the Career Exploration station.

Newbern Police Department to host Discovery Park trip for 25 local kids

On July 23, members of the Newbern Police Department will be escorting 25 children on an adventure through time, as they embark on a daylong expedition to Discovery Park of America, free of cost. The trip will be provided for children who come from low-income homes who are currently receiving SNAP benefits or other forms of welfare supplement.

FCNB says adieu to German exchange student Nadia Holbein

In the fall of 2015, Dyer County welcomed the face of 21-year-old Nadia Holbein, an exchange student who left her life in Erlingheim, Germany to venture westward and experience the diverse culture of America. Both nervous and excited when she was brought to us through the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange program, Nadia had always dreamed about traveling to the states, and was thrilled to be chosen as one of 75 students given the opportunity to travel abroad and learn more about the cultural diversities that exist between Germany and America.
