Despite having their trip to Paris Landing cancelled on Tuesday, the Dyer County Choctaw golfers were able to get in a match, hosting and defeating Peabody at Oakview Links Golf Course in Newbern. Police seeking information on weekend shooting

On Sunday, Sept. 4 shortly before 6:30 p.m., the Dyersburg Police Department received a call of a person that had been shot in the 100 block of Fumbanks, just south of Forrest Street. Officers arrived and found a male victim lying in the front yard with multiple gunshot wounds in the chest, abdomen and legs. DPD terminates 17-year veteran after internal affairs investigation

On Aug.18, a member of the Dyersburg Police Department was terminated for violation of department procedures. Brian Peckenpaugh, a member of the DPD since 1999, became the third officer in 2016 to be fired after an internal investigation performed by the Professional Standards Unit concluded improper conduct and multiple violations of general orders set forth within the department.
