700 vouchers received for September's Feed the Need program

Thursday morning, a large crowd of local residents gathered at the Dyer County Fairgrounds for this month's Feed the Need program. Working together in an effort to make this month's event possible are local organizations including the Salvation Army, Mathew 25:40, and the Union Mission. Special thanks are extended to the many volunteers who show up for the event, devoting a substantial amount of their time toward helping sort, bag, and distribute food boxes to those receiving aid.

45th Annual Reelfoot Arts and Crafts Festival quickly approaching

The Reelfoot Arts and Crafts Association's 45th Annual Reelfoot Arts and Crafts Festival has been set for Friday, Sept. 30 and will run through Sunday, Oct. 2. The Reelfoot Arts and Crafts Festival, which has been chosen as one of the top three arts and crafts shows in Tennessee, will again occur at beautiful Reelfoot Lake, just outside of Tiptonville, off of Tennessee Highways 21 and 22. With only two weeks away from the beginning of the festival, Reelfoot Lake will soon be the destination for many vendors and customers, most of which travel out of state to attend. The festival is always held on the first weekend that includes an October date and annually attracts crowds of 40,000 persons plus. There is no admission to the event.

St. Jude motorcycle ride stops in Dyersburg, raises over $700,000

The rumble of motorcycles entered Dyersburg on Thursday, Sept. 15 as part of the St. Jude Rides, benefitting St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis. Beginning in Peoria, Illinois on Thursday morning, hundreds of riders traveled south to Dyersburg where the Mid-South Riders and Christian Motorcycle Association treated them to dinner at the Lannom Center. Riders stayed overnight in various lodging accommodations in the city.

Bikini Bottoms to host 1st U.S. Icelandic Formula Off-Road event

"The cars and drivers are on the water, on the way," said Bikini Bottoms owner Bob Williams, while expressing his excitement for the upcoming Icelandic Formula Off-Road event. This will be the first time that the Icelandic Formula Off-Road event has ever been held in the states. The weekend-long event will kick off Sept. 30, and is expected to draw countless thousands of residents and out-of town enthusiasts to the off-road park.
