Super Jude Fun Run raises awareness, $2,500
(Local News ~ 10/11/16)
The 'Super Jude' Family Fun Run benefitting Rhizo Kids International occurred this past Saturday morning at First Christian Church in Dyersburg. Approximately 120 persons were in attendance for the event and roughly 70 race participants. Event founder and organizer Belinda Cleaves (left of Batman, dressed as Wonder Woman) named the event in honor of 'Super' Jude Peters of Charlotte, N.C. Jude, along with approximately 60 children worldwide, suffers from RCDP, a rare genetic form of dwarfism, which currently hasn't a treatment, cure, or government funding. Cleaves and her team were able to raise $2,500 for Rhizo Kids. "We had so much fun," said Cleaves. "The kids loved the 'Be Your Own Superhero' Contest, and I loved watching all the racers cross the finish line. The raffle was exciting. I believe we raised a lot of awareness, and I think there will be a lot of people in Dyersburg praying for Jude and all of the Rhizo kids. We really appreciate every one that came out, and I don't think I'll ever be able to adequately thank all of the donors and volunteers. They were super heroes!"
