Despite having a double-digit lead at the half, a bevy of second-half tunovers – including nine in the third quarter alone – proved to be the deciding factor as the Choctaws fell 55-49 to Niceville, Fla. in second round of the consolation bracket in the Go Southern Beach Blowout on Wednesday afternoon in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

Trojans top Hernando, win pool at Alcorn Central

The Dyersburg boys wrapped up a successful two-day trip to northern Mississippi on Wednesday, jumping out to an early lead then holding off Hernando to take a 66-61 win over the Tigers on the second day of the Peggy Bain Holiday Hoops Tournament at Alcorn Central Middle School in Glen, Miss.

Shooting woes hamper Lady Trojans in semifinals

Though the Lady Trojan defense played well at times, a bad night shooting from the field put the Dyersburg girls at a disadvantage as the black and gold never recovered from a Gibson County 12-0 run during the first quarter of the Lady Pioneers 50-41 win in the semifinals of the Dyersburg Christmas Tournament on Wednesday evening.

RRM’s annual toy store supplies Christmas gifts for 1,300 children

Reelfoot Rural Ministries’ 40th annual Christmas Toy Store was a great blessing again this year. The blessings abound each year for the families that find themselves in difficult financial circumstances. The blessings are also powerful for the volunteers that come to help set up and operate the Toy Store each year. During the Toy Store, one often witnesses tears of joy flowing from both parents and volunteers. It is truly an atmosphere that reflects the spirit of the Christmas season.
