For football fans here, the wait which began last November - the exact date depending on whether you root for Dyersburg, Dyer County or both - is almost over. This past Friday night brought us our final looks at the Choctaws and Trojans in the preseason and both ended the “games that don’t count” on positive notes with a 15-0 win by the Choctaws in Jackson over North Side and a 14-7 victory by the Trojans against Covington here in Dyersburg a couple hours later...

Trojans score in final moments, top Chargers

A late fumble recovered by Dyersburg defensive lineman Drevious Welch turned the tide late as the Trojans capitalized with a Daniel Gates touchdown seven plays later with two seconds on the clock to take a 14-7 win over Covington in the Star Physical Therapy/West Tennessee Bone and Joint Clinic 2017 High School Football Jamboree on Friday night at J.C. Sawyers Stadium.

Choctaws shut out North Side at The Ballpark

Coming off strong scrimmage showings two weeks ago at USJ and last week in Brighton, the Choctaws closed the 2017 preseason on a positive note with a 15-0 win over Jackson North Side in the opening game of the Sports Plus Jamboree at the Ballpark in Jackson on Friday night.
