While some college athletes are either back home playing with summer travel leagues or just taking time off from the grind of their sport, former Dyer County baseball standout Jordan Fowler has headed north for the summer to New England as he is currently working to improve himself before entering his sophomore season at Ole Miss in the Cape Cod Baseball League in Massachusetts.

During my wanderings out and about this past week - not sure the exact day or when - but the first sign of football season came into my senses. To me, having played the sport from age 11 through my senior year in high school, the combination of upper-90-degree weather along with the smell of fresh cut grass always signified it was almost time to put the pads on and head out to the practice field to get ready for another year of football here in West Tennessee...

Football preseason gets underway this week with 7-on-7s

With the TSSAA’s mandatory dead period coming to an end, things are really going to pick up for local high school sports teams, especially both the Trojan and Choctaw football teams, who get their preseason workouts started this week in Dyersburg and Newbern.
