Newbern to ask for second continuation of 2018-19 budget

The Newbern Board of Mayor Aldermen approved a motion to apply for a 60-day continuation of the 2018-19 budget, with a new deadline set for state submission on or before Aug. 31. The request for a continuation of the budget was recommended to the board by Newbern Mayor Justin Wright during the June 19 meeting in light of the city’s recent loss of a City Recorder and Treasurer.

Dot Foods hosts ALZ Trivia Night, raises $12,000

In an effort to raise funds to end Alzheimer’s disease, Dot Foods hosted its annual ALZ Trivia Challenge on Thursday, Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. The two-hour-long event welcomed six local teams, and ultimately raised roughly $12,000 in proceeds, which will now go toward funding valuable research by the Alzheimer’s Association.
