Choctaws, Trojans take part in DHS Kickoff Classic at The Farms

For the Large Classification in TSSAA Golf, it’s a very short season as Monday’s DHS Kickoff Classic at The Farms fell just three weeks before the same venue is set to host district tournament action as teams from both Dyersburg and Dyer County finished in the top half of a field of a dozen boys teams.

Lady Choctaws rally in fifth to beat South Side

The Lady Choctaws have only played two home matches so far in 2018 and both have given their fans their money’s worth as the Dyer County volleyball team rallied from an opening-set loss for the second time in five days to win in five sets, this time besting Jackson South Side on Monday night in Newbern.

Dyer County Museum now open to public at regular hours

For years, the Dyer County Historical Society has collected Dyer County images, stories and artifacts from the past and archived them in the Dyer County Museum. Started in 2003, the society began as part of the McIver’s Bluff Festival in downtown Dyersburg. Tables of historic items were placed on display in the courthouse during the festival and the response from visitors drove a small group of Dyer Countians to work toward establishing the Dyer County Historical Society...

Farmers Market gets new fans

Vendors and customers of the Dyersburg Main Street Farmers Market are keeping cool this year due to an upgrade made possible through available grant funding from USDA Rural Development. Each of the four 16-ft. fans were installed in early August by Amtek.

Three juveniles cited in connection to multiple burglaries

On Sunday, Aug. 19 at approximately 3:20 a.m., Dyersburg Police officers were dispatched to the area of Ewell Avenue on a complaint of a group of subjects running from house to house putting items in backpacks. Once in the area, officers observed both driver-side doors open on a vehicle in the 1500 block. Officers located the owner of the vehicle and determined a backpack was missing along with a small amount of cash...
