Monday was a good day for local golfers as both Dyer County and Dyersburg boys teams advanced to next week’s Region 7 Large Tournament with the Choctaws claiming the District 14 Large title by a outshooting second-place Covington by six strokes at The Farms in Dyersburg.

He was born on April 24, 1928, in Finley, TN, to the late Cecil Anderson and Grace Yelvington Anderson. Unplugged in the Park event is Thursday

The National Association of Junior Auxiliary of Dyer County, a non-profit service group that aides underprivileged children and families in the community, will be hosting the 3rd Annual Unplugged in the Park event Thursday, Sept. 13 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at the Okeena Park Pavilion. The event encourages those gathered to ‘unplug’ from electronics, social media, etc., and to come together for an evening of free popcorn, drinks, face painting, music, games and relay races. The event is free to the public.
