Thero (Peter) Anderson age 61 of Dyersburg, TN. died Thursday, November 1, 2018 at West TN Healthcare-Dyersburg. Arrangements are entrusted to McCreight Funeral Home. Thero was a U.S. Army Veteran. Cremation is under the direction of McCreight Funeral Home. Memorial service was held Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Pastor Mitchell Matthews officiating. Dr. Joseph W. Wolfe – United States Navy

Dr. Joseph W. Wolfe was on active duty for two years in the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam War. Though with the Navy, Wolfe noted he ‘was on loan’ in the 3rd Division Medical Battalion for the 3rd Marine Division.

George Winters: veteran of Korean DMZ War

Occurring from November 1966 – December 1969, the conflict known as the Korean DMZ War, or Second Korean War, is one that is often overshadowed or not as vastly publicized as the war in Vietnam, which was also ongoing during that time. Approximately 5,000 U.S. soldiers fought in the narrow confines of the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), claiming a number of American lives in the combat. Of the few thousand soldiers who were involved in the battle in Korea, local resident and United States Army Veteran George Winters happened to be one involved in combat.

Ginny Parker - United States Air Force (1979-1986)

Downtown celebrates Christmas Open House event

From holiday window art and Christmas lights to festive music and the smell of hot food, the pulse of the downtown district was strong Friday night, Nov. 9, as residents, shop owners, vendors and patrons mixed and mingled during the 3-hour-long Christmas Open House event. The 2-day event began at 5 p.m., and gained steady momentum until wrapping up at 8 p.m. During the second day of activities, businesses opened to the public from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Participating downtown shops included: The Mill Workspace, Pennington Seed and Supply, Joe’s Downtown Market, Restoration Station, Southern Charm, Bus Stop, Dave’s on the Square, The Mustard Co., Amy Jane’s, Buff City Soap, and New Life Union Mission’s Hidden Treasures.
