Milan ends Trojan season with quarterfinal loss

Despite the Trojans holding a seven-point lead heading into the final eight minutes, Milan went on a pair of scoring tears in the fourth quarter to take the lead then held off Dyersburg’s last-minute comeback bid to take a 67-62 win over the black and gold and end the Trojans’ season in the quarterfinals of the District 13AA Tournament in the Terry Glover Gymnasium on Tuesday night.

Rising floodwaters begin to surround local homes

Rising water from the Mississippi River has caused minor flooding in numerous Dyer County communities, with the National Weather Service reporting the Forked Deer River to be 3.21 ft. above the flood stage as of noon on Tuesday, Feb. 12.

South Main Ave., various city streets close due to flooding

Early Wednesday morning, Feb. 13, South Main Avenue and numerous streets in South Dyersburg were closed due to flooding of the North Fork-Forked Deer River. The rising water forced South Main, from Brown St. to Highway 51, to become closed, along with Horner Rd., Williams St., Brigance Ave., Forshee St., Evans Ave., Hodge Ave., Wilson Dr., and Atkins St.

CLB discusses relocation of public offices to former county clerk’s building

During Monday night’s meeting of the Dyer County Legislative Body, a topic generating much discussion among the CLB were plans to convert the former County Clerk office into a dual-purpose facility, housing both the Dyer County Election Commission as well as the Dyer County Trustees Office.
