Munford upsets Choctaws to take district title

After a pair of buzzer beaters against Munford during the regular season battles with the Cougars, Dyer County was unable to rally for a third time against their rivals from Tipton County as Munford pulled away late to hold off the Choctaws for a 63-58 win over Dyer County in the District 13AAA Tournament final on Tuesday night at Brighton High School.

Cook accepts plea bargain, sentenced 12 years for attempted 2nd degree murder

On Tuesday, Feb. 19, Charles Albert Cook, the 33-year-old Dyersburg man arrested in 2018 on charges including the aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated rape and attempted first-degree murder of his former girlfriend, appeared in front of Lauderdale County Circuit Court Judge Joseph Walker III.

Former executive director of Mississippi River Corridor indicted on federal fraud charges

An indictment was unsealed today, February 20, charging Diana Threadgill, 66, of Memphis, Tennessee, with three counts of mail fraud, announced U.S. Attorney Don Cochran for the Middle District of Tennessee. Threadgill was arrested by federal agents this morning and will appear before a U.S. Magistrate Judge in Memphis later today.
