Discovery Park of America will be joining the rest of the nation in commemorating the 50th anniversary of the first humans to land on the moon this Sat., July 20, with activities planned throughout the day. Power Board OKs bid for new truck

On Wednesday, July 17, the Dyersburg Electric System Power Board convened for their regularly scheduled monthly meeting. All members of the power board, as well as members of the DES Executive Management Team, were present. DES President and CEO Stephen Lane presented 2 items of new business before the board – bids for a new digger-derrick truck as well as a bad-debt charge-off.

Bill increasing minimum wage to $15 passes through House

On Thursday, July 19, Congressman David Kustoff (TN-08), voted against H.R. 582, Raise the Wage Act, however, the vote ultimately passed through the House in a 231-199 vote. Addressing income inequality, this bill would incrementally raise the federal minimum wage to $15 dollars per hour by 2024.
