Lois Baker Boatright, 93, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, July 24, 2019 in Martin. Born July 2, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Hammie Clay and Verner Ellis Baker. She was a member of Parr Avenue Church of Christ and an avid bridge and canasta card player. Mrs. Boatright was retired from General Appliance and Furniture Company as the bookkeeper for 47 years...

Kustoff to speak at Legislative Coffee Aug. 2

On Friday, Aug. 2, at 7 a.m. a Legislative Coffee will be held at the Lannom Center with U.S. Congressman David Kustoff as the guest speaker. Kustoff will be providing updates at 7:30 a.m. on his work on behalf of Tennesseans in Washington. A light breakfast and coffee will be served. Legislative Coffees are free to the public. Testimonies heard during Dyersburg pension plan trial

On Monday, July 29 and Tuesday, July 30, the lawsuit against the City of Dyersburg pension plan was heard in Dyer County Circuit Court with Judge Lee Moore presiding. Over the 2-day trial, testimony was heard from various individuals including fireman Aaron Cryer and police officer Jason Alexander, who originally filed the lawsuit in June 2016, actuaries Jody Carreiro of Little Rock, Arkansas and Alan Pennington, Dyersburg Treasurer Steve Anderson and Mayor John Holden.
