When there is a local community event, fundraiser, or an opportunity to volunteer, Dyersburg resident George Mitchell is usually involved. The Mississippi native has called Dyersburg and Dyer County home since 1985, and during that time he has been the definition of volunteerism, serving in various community and church organizations. Mitchell’s display of love for people and community service was instilled in him at an early age by his parents while growing up in the Mississippi Delta.

Life Choices collects donations from community, seeks help in funding

Recently, Life Choices of Dyersburg has received nearly $11,000 in funds from various community organizations and residents. These donations have been made to aid Life Choices in a $21,000 deficit reported by the organization at the end of the 2018-2019 fiscal year. Kirk considering possible run for state rep

Bob Kirk, former City of Dyersburg alderman, is currently considering running for state representative to serve out the term vacated by Rep. Bill Sanderson, a seat that will officially be vacated on Sept.5. “Of course, no potential candidate can officially announce until Gov. (Bill) Lee sets the date for a special election,” explained Kirk. “However, I am strongly considering running for the position due to the resignation of Rep. (Bill) Sanderson, for the remainder of his term.”...

Tennessee fans left stunned after season-opening loss

After months and months of waiting, on Saturday afternoon fans of Tennessee football were fired up, anxious, and ready to finally watch the Vols return to the field of play. The excitement of a new season was hard to contain, and when kickoff arrived we all were ready to see this year's product put Georgia State to sleep and look ahead to a matchup with BYU.
