The Three Oaks Choctaws improved their record to 4-0 after defeating Tipton-Rosemark 48-8 Tuesday night as the Choctaw defense created problems all night for the Rosemark Rebels. Choctaws edge Trojans at The Farms; DHS’ Welch wins girls

With Dyersburg and Dyer County’s golf season heading toward the postseason on the last day of the month, the Trojans welcomed the Choctaws for one-on-one action at The Farms (where the District 14 Large Tournament is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 30) with the visiting orange and white getting the win by seven strokes.

Candidates begin filing petitions for state rep

District 77 State Representative candidate Rusty Grills (right) hands in his petition to Dyer County Election Commission director Anita Fowlkes (left) Wednesday morning. As of 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Grills and Vanedda Webb were the only Dyer County candidates who had turned in their petitions to the Dyer County Election Commission. Current interim state representative Casey Hood, appointed to the position by the Obion County Commission on Sept. 6, as well as Webb are the only candidates at this time who have their petitions certified in all three District 77 counties – Dyer, Lake, and Obion. In addition to Grills, Webb, and Hood, other candidates who have picked up petitions include Bob Kirk, Josh Kraus, and Carl Schultz. The deadline to file petitions is noon on Sept. 26. The primary election is set for Tuesday, Nov. 5 with the early voting period set for Oct. 16-31. The General Election is set for Dec. 19, with the early voting period lasting between Nov. 30 – Dec. 14.

Born Wednesday, April 18, 1956, in Dyersburg, Tennessee she was the daughter of the late Marshall Bates Rushing and the late Frances Ann Rushing. Mrs. Adcock was a Homemaker.
