Oakwood resident celebrates 100th birthday

On Monday, November 18, Oakwood Community Living Center in Dyersburg celebrated the 100th birthday of resident Hazel Free. In attendance were members of the Oakwood staff, Free’s family members, and other special guests. Patricia Sanders of Oakwood welcomed those in attendance and presented Free with a birthday care from Oakwood as well as The White House. Pavilion of Hope gave Free a card and a blanket, while Dyersburg Mayor John Holden presented her with a card and a key to the City. Everyone in attendance was invited to have cake and refreshments. Free was born in Linden, Tennessee on November 18, 1919 and was a former employee at Heckethorn in Dyersburg. Her favorite season is spring because she likes to sit outdoors. Ms. Free enjoys Mexican food, cakes, and her favorite hobbies are watching Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Lifetime movies, antique shows, and Court TV. She also enjoys looking through Home and Garden Magazines and tabloids.
