Junction Church of God members doing their part by sewing facemasks

Multiple sewing machines, fabric and measuring equipment was meticulously spread out within the walls of a Finley Church on Tuesday. This is members of the Junction Church of God’s assembly line for making protective facemasks for health care providers and other community members in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

County school board reassigns Lusk, names Mathis as acting director

The Dyer County Board of Education accepted a transfer request from its director and appointed a temporary replacement. In a meeting held Tuesday by conference call, the board accepted the job reassignment of Dr. Larry Lusk, effective immediately, and appointed district supervisor Cheryl Mathis as acting director.

Eleven reported COVID-19 cases in Dyer County

During the most recent COVID-19 update from the Tennessee Department of Health on Wednesday, April 8, at 2 p.m., it was reported that Dyer County had 11 confirmed COVID-19 cases, an increase of one from Tuesday. The state department of health also noted a total of 164 individuals had been tested for the virus in the county with 153 negative results.
