Dyer County native joins Chamber of Commerce

Slater Barr, President/CEO of the Dyersburg/Dyer County Chamber of Commerce, has announced the hiring of a new membership director for the organization. Anna Sartin, a native of Dyersburg and recent graduate of Lipscomb University, began her duties on April 20, 2020.

Power Board approves upcoming fiscal year budget

On Wednesday at noon, the Dyersburg Electric System Power Board convened for their regularly scheduled meeting inside the conference room of DES headquarters. All members of the board, as well as members of the DES Executive Management Team, were present. The board heard four new items of business, including the proposed budget for the upcoming 2020-2021 fiscal year.

Permitless gun-carry bill passes House committee

The Tennessee House Judiciary Committee recently passed a bill to allow for the carrying of a handgun without a permit, according to a release. The legislation, House Bill 2817, allows for anyone 21 and older to legally carry a gun without completing any special training or a permit. It measure also allows military members who are aged 18 to 20 to carry guns.
