During a normal year, 501k based in Paris, TN specializes in the recycling of plastics, cardboards and metals. However, the year 2020 has been far from normal since the COVID-19 pandemic swept through the nation beginning in the month of March.

DCHS FFA named 2020 National Award winner

On August 5, the National Association of Agricultural Educators announced Dyer County High School as the 2020 National Award Winner for the Region V Outstanding Middle/Secondary Agricultural Education Program. The DCHS Agricultural Education Program is recognized as one of the top six programs across the nation. The DCHS Agriculture Educators are (pictured l-r) Dan Smith, Brittany Leitherland, Lynsey Butler, and Richard Ross. These winners will be recognized December 1-5 at the 2020 NAAE Convention in Nashville.

Congressman Kustoff visits Dyersburg on diner tour

Congressman David Kustoff (TN-08) visited Dyersburg Monday morning, August 17, as part of his diner tour, which officially began last week. The Congressman has visited numerous locally owned cafes, ice cream shops, and diners to highlight businesses who have been impacted by COVID-19 and speak with residents across West Tennessee. From 9-10 a.m. Monday, Kustoff met with local residents at Dave’s on the Square.

Dyer County COVID-19 update for August 17

With the release of the Tennessee Department of Health’s (TDH) daily COVID-19 update on Monday, the department reported Dyer County as having 747 total COVID-19 cases, which contains confirmed and probable cases, as well as 379 active cases and 359 recoveries. The total number of deaths in the county due to the virus remained at 9.
