Dyer County Schools to remain in Phase 3, DCHS in Phase 2

On Thursday, October 15, the Dyer County School System announced all county schools will operate under Phase 3 guidelines for the upcoming week of October 19-23, 2020. Dyer County High School will continue under Phase 2 guidelines.

City schools announce virtual learning for Pre-K students next week

The Dyersburg City School System announced Thursday afternoon, October 15, that next week, October 19-23, 2020, virtual learning will take place for Pre-K students. Special Education Pre-K students will continue to meet at Dyersburg Primary School. Additionally, students in grades K-8 will remain in Phase 2, while Dyersburg High School will continue with Phase 2 modified.

Dyer County COVID-19 update for October 16

With the release of the Tennessee Department of Health’s (TDH) daily COVID-19 update on Friday, the department reported Dyer County as having a total of 1,881 COVID-19 cases, which consist of confirmed and probable cases. Additionally, the TDH said that Dyer County had 313 active cases with 1,544 recoveries/inactive cases.

Dyersburg woman sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for methamphetamine trafficking

Anne Taylor Davis, 28, has been sentenced to 151 months in federal prison for distribution and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. D. Michael Dunavant, U.S. Attorney announced the sentence today, October 16, 2020.

Dyersburg falls to Ripley in Region 7-4A shootout

From the start of Friday night’s game in Ripley, it looked very much like the last team with the ball would walk away with the important Region 7-4A win. But, it was the Ripley (5-3, 2-1) defense that made the biggest plays late as the Tigers defenders stopped Dyersburg (3-2, 1-1) late to seal a 51-44 win over the Trojans.

Community Cancer Fund sausage sale raises $6,500

Local citizens arrived early Friday morning, some as early as 6 a.m., to begin lining up to participate in the Dyer County Community Cancer Fund’s sausage sale fundraiser. The sale began at 8 a.m., and in just 50 minutes, the two truckloads of sausage, consisting of a total of 6,500 lbs., sold out. The sale raised a total of $6,500 for the local organization.

October on pace to set new monthly high of COVID-19 cases in Dyer County

Since the calendar has turned to October, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Dyer County has continued to climb, resulting in record-high new single-day cases. Once the most recent numbers from the Tennessee Department of Health (THD) were released on Friday afternoon, Dyer County was shown to be only 16 new COVID-19 cases away from setting a record for the most cases in a single month – and as of Saturday, there are two weeks left in the month.
