Dyer County COVID-19 update for January 25

With the release of the Tennessee Department of Health’s (TDH) daily COVID-19 update on Monday, the department reported Dyer County as having a total of 4,874 COVID-19 cases, which consist of confirmed and probable cases. Additionally, the TDH said that Dyer County had 255 active cases with 4,532 recoveries/inactive cases. The total number of deaths due to the virus was listed at 87.

Person of interest sought in double fatal shooting at Reelfoot Lake

TIPTONVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A man is being sought on first-degree murder charges in the fatal shootings of two men at Reelfoot Lake, officials said Tuesday. David Vowell, 70, of Martin, is being sought in connection with the deaths of Chance Black, 26, and Zachery Grooms, 25, both of Weakley County, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a statement on Twitter. Arrests warrants for first-degree murder were issued, and Vowell is considered armed and dangerous, the agency said.
