Injunction orders signed pertaining to gang violence

On Wednesday morning, the 29th Judicial District Attorney’s Office presented orders of injunctions in Dyer County Chancery Court pertaining to the recent violence reportedly occurring between rival gangs the Vice Lords and the 87 Kitchen Crips.

Tennessee doctor pleads guilty to hydrocodone distribution resulting in death

A Tennessee physician pleaded guilty Wednesday in the Western District of Tennessee to causing the death of one of his patients through his illegal prescribing of hydrocodone. According to court documents, Thomas K. Ballard III, 63, of Jackson, owned and operated the Ballard Clinic, from which he issued prescriptions for dangerous, addictive controlled pharmaceutical drugs without any legitimate medical purpose. ...

Dyersburg Board OKs school budget

The Dyersburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen convened Monday evening inside the Municipal Building courtroom for their regularly scheduled meeting. All board members were in attendance and reviewed two items of new business – minutes from the Finance Committee meetings on June 7, 9, and 15 as well as the attorney invoice.

Finance Committee continues budget talks, speaks with library reps

The Dyersburg Finance Committee convened for the fourth time Monday morning to continue discussion pertaining to the upcoming 2021-22 fiscal budget for the City of Dyersburg. Additionally, committee members met with McIver’s Grant Public Library representatives pertaining to a funding request.
