Dr. Phillip Earl Agee, age 73, died Monday July 5, 2021, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee. Phil was born Saturday, September 6, 1947, in Tigrett, Tennessee, the son of the late Charles Maurice Agee and Martha Nell Agee. He grew up in Dyersburg and graduated from DHS in 1965. ...

Girl Scouts use cookie proceeds to benefit Humane Society

Girl Scout Troop #40323 made a hefty donation drop-off Tuesday morning to help in the care of animals at the Dyersburg/Dyer County Humane Society. Before making an appointment to drop off supplies Mary Greer, Troop Leader of Girl Scouts Troop #40323, took the Girl Scout Troop to Dollar General to spend nearly $300 raised by the troop to use on supplies, cleaning products, toys and treats for the animals.

Castleman places 2nd in state FFA public speaking contest

On Tuesday, June 29, DCHS FFA member Jon Mark Castleman competed in the Tennessee FFA State Extemporaneous Speaking Contest in Gatlinburg. The Extemporaneous Public Speaking Contest is designed to showcase the participant’s knowledge of agriculture and ability to present a speech and answer questions with limited preparation time. Jon Mark placed 2nd in the state and was presented with a plaque by Tennessee State Reporter Cassie Lewis of Halls at the 2020-2021 Tennessee FFA State Convention.

Grills secures $12k in state funding for Elbridge-Cloverdale Community Center

State Rep. Rusty Grills, R-Newbern, successfully secured $12,000 in state funding for the Elbridge-Cloverdale Community Center. The funds will be used for the construction of a helicopter landing pad with GPS and automated lighting controls for a medical helicopter.

West Tennessee Healthcare announces new CEO at Dyersburg Hospital

West Tennessee Healthcare is pleased to announce that Scott Barber has accepted the permanent position of Chief Executive Officer at Dyersburg Hospital after serving as interim CEO since June 2020. As CEO at Dyersburg Hospital, Barber will be responsible for all operations and overall management of the facility.
