Honoring 9/11, NMS hosts Nickel Wars for charity

In remembrance of the 20th anniversary of 9/11, Northview Middle School is participating in a Nickel War to benefit the charity Tunnels to Towers. The organization was created after 9/11 to support the families of first responders that lost their lives in the terror attack on Sept. 11, 2001. The charity continues to support fallen military, veterans, and their families. The funds go to people that have served the United States to help with bill assistance and other emergencies.

On some anniversaries we celebrate. On others we reflect. The 20th Anniversary of the attack on America and New York World Trade Center is one of the times for reflection. There is truly nothing to celebrate in the extraordinary tragedy of 9/11. As much as I would like to forget some of them, the images from that day will never be out of my mind, nor will the victims and their families...

St. Jude Rides makes annual stop in Dyersburg

The rumbling sound of motorcycles filled the air Thursday evening as hundreds of riders with the annual St. Jude Rides, benefitting St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, made their annual stop in Dyersburg. All riders were treated to a meal Thursday night at the Lannom Center and stayed overnight in multiple lodging accommodations prior to their departure to Memphis Friday morning.

At the Shelter

There are 80 pets available for adoption, so the number of residents is remaining high and the Shelter is very crowded. Rescue groups are still over-loaded and adoptions are few which makes the Shelter crowding desperate. If you can't adopt right now, would you be willing to foster an animal until this logjam breaks? 9/11 memorial service held in downtown Dyersburg

On Saturday morning, a ceremony reflecting on the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks was held in downtown Dyersburg at the Pocket Park. Numerous Dyer County and City of Dyersburg officials, members of local law enforcement agencies and fire departments, U.S. veterans, and community members were in attendance.
