Men wanted in connection with homicide in custody

On Friday morning, May 20, the Dyersburg Police Department announced both Newbern men wanted in connection of a May 18 homicide had been captured. Brothers Caleb Edwards, 20, of Newbern, wanted for first-degree murder, and William Marcus Edwards, 21, wanted for accessory to first-degree murder, were being sought by police following a Wednesday night shooting, resulting in the death of a Dyersburg man, 43-year-old Jimmy Burns.

Guttery announces retirement from Chamber

Dyersburg native and Dyersburg/Dyer County Director of Downtown Development Steve Guttery recently announced his retirement from the position. Guttery has served in the role since 2006 and has worked daily to revitalize the Historic District and make it a destination for community members and those from outside the area.

Governor Lee visits Dyer County

On Wednesday afternoon, Governor Bill Lee was in Dyer County concluding a tour visiting all 95 counties in celebration of Tennessee’s 225 years of statehood. Gov. Lee spoke with several local and state elected officials and community members at the Lenox Golf and Event Co. to inform those gathered on what he has learned during his statewide tour.
