Dyersburg-Dyer County Humane Society draws large crowd of supporters at 3rd annual Cups for Pups event

You can’t go wrong when you host an event with dogs and donuts! Hosted by the Dyersburg-Dyer County Humane Society, Cups for Pups is an annual fundraiser organized to promote animal adoption for the countless dogs that are temporarily housed at the Shelter each year while awaiting placement in their “furever” home. This year’s event was hosted on Saturday, March 4, and welcomed a large crowd of supporters and their four-legged companions. Those attending were encouraged to purchase a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts with all proceeds directed toward the Shelter. This year’s event raised $1,500.

DSCC to host Bunny Hop & Hunt on April 15; early registration under way

Prosecution, defense discuss Swift trial, change of venue, jury selection

Numerous motions were filed Monday evening as David Swift, and attorney Daniel Taylor of Spragins, Barnett & Cobb PLC appeared before Dyer County Circuit Court Judge Mark Hayes to discuss concerns about the upcoming trial. Among those concerns expressed by Taylor, he stated his reluctance of receiving a fair hearing in Dyer County. Taylor made a motion asking for a change of venue for the trial, mentioning the Court would possibly need to consider venues outside of the district, but in an adjoining district.

Field set for Class AAA State Tournament beginning Tuesday

After a locally historic TSSAA Girls Class AAA Sectional Saturday which saw the Dyer County Lady Choctaws and Dyersburg Lady Trojans punch their tickets to the State Tournament in the same season for the first time in the two programs’ long histories, the brackets for the TSSAA Class AAA State Tournament were announced on Sunday morning.
