Local educators attend West Tennessee Education Summit

Educators from Dyer County attended the West Tennessee Education Summit on March 10 at the UT Agriculture Research and Education Center in Jackson. The summit is hosted by the WestTeach class of 2022. WestTeach is a teacher-development initiative created as a class project by the University of Tennessee at Martin’s WestStar Leadership Program class of 2017. DFD responds to fire at Dave’s on the Square

At approximately 1:20 p.m. Saturday, April 8, the Dyersburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at Dave’s on the Square, located at 107 W. Market St. An employee confirmed there was no major damage to the dining area, however, damage to the kitchen was confirmed. Efforts are currently underway to repair the restaurant with a tentative reopening set to happen in the next few weeks.

Three DC players named to All-Tournament team

A strong weekend on the court resulted in three players being named to the All-Tournament Team at the Hornet Cup. Dyer County players who earned individual honors were (from left) Bo Dodds, Riley Thompson, and Grayce Shaver, who were named to the Hornet Cup All-Tournament Team. In the overall team competition, the Choctaws finished as runner-up in the boys competition while the Lady Choctaws took fourth.
