Downtown egg hunt draws crowd of hundreds

A crowd of hundreds gathered at the Dyer County Courthouse Saturday morning, April 8, for the Main Street Dyersburg and Dyer County Mayor’s Egg Hunt. With thousands of eggs prepped for the hunt, children still managed to clear the courthouse lawn in little more than three minutes. Downtown Development and Community Programs Director Brianna Roser thanked all of the volunteers who made this event a success, as well as the Dyersburg-Dyer County Adult Leadership Class and staff of McIver’s Grant Public Library. Prizes were handed out courtesy of the Dyer County Mayor’s Office. Following the event, Dyer County Mayor David Quick expressed thanks to all involved in the event, commenting on its excellent turnout.

Dyer County scores early, often to beat Union City

The Lady Choctaws travelled to Union City on Monday to open their week and returned with a big win over the Lady Tornados, scoring in six of the seven innings to take a 15-6 win. A trio of walks lead to Dyer County loading the bases with one out in the top of the first. Choctaws score late to take Game One over Trojans

With the lead in District 13AAA's baseball standings on the line on Monday night, Dyer County made the short trip over to Tom Mathis Field and score four times in the final two frames to take a 5-2 win over the Trojans.

Women’s Reentry remains a tabled matter amid CLB discord

The Dyer County Legislative Body convened Monday night, April 10, for its regular monthly session. This month’s meeting included a discussion primarily regarding the Dyer County Jail’s Women’s Reentry Program, as well as a notice from Dyer County Mayor David Quick about the status of EMS services.

CRD Award Ceremony to be held April 15; guest speaker Toni Renee White

The Community Resource Development (CRD) will be hosting its annual scholarship banquet this Saturday, April 15, at Dyersburg Middle School, at 6 p.m. During this year's awards banquet, scholarship awards will be presented to high school student leaders who have invested their time toward extracurricular activities, church involvement, and community involvement, while displaying exemplary character, citizenship, empathy, and communication skills. This year's event guest speaker will be Dyersburg native Toni Renee White, daughter of Thomas and Doris White.
