Gracie Irene Griffin, 100, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at AHC Healthcare Dyersburg. She was born on July 12, 1922, in Dyersburg, TN, to the late Alonzo and Ludie May Burch Hines. Gracie was a retired custodian with the Dyersburg Electric System and was a homemaker. Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church is hosting its 21st Annual Smoked Chicken and BBQ Bologna sale. The event will be held June 3, 2023, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, located at 208 St. George Ave. Dyersburg. The event is sponsored by the Pilgrim Rest Male Chorus.

Dyer County's Evans finishes fifth in state at triple jump

Choctaw senior jumper Drew Evans finished off his senior season as a track athlete at the highest level of the high school level, finishing in fifth place in the TSSAA Class AA Triple Jump at the State Track Meet at Middle Tennessee State in Murfreesboro on Tuesday morning.

Dyer County thrower Honore takes sixth in shot put

Dyer County Lady Choctaw thrower Anitra Honore ended her sophomore track season in the same place where her freshman season came to a close a year ago as the DCHS tenth grader competed in the TSSAA Class AA State Track Meet and finished her season with a sixth place finish in the shot put.

State officials discuss General Assembly updates during Legislative Coffee

State Representatives Rusty Grills and Chris Hurt were joined Tuesday morning by State Senator Ed Jackson during the Legislative Coffee event, hosted by the Dyer County/Dyersburg Chamber of Commerce. The event kicked off at 7:30 as speakers took to the podium. Hot coffee was served by local business Misfit Militia.
