Lady Trojan sophomore sprinter Alyria Green ended her track season at the highest level in Tennessee high school sports, finishing in seventh place in the Girls 100-meter run during the TSSAA Class AA Track Meet on Tuesday afternoon at Middle Tennessee State in Murfreesboro.

DHS track's Hammond finishes fifth in 100-meter

Dyersburg High School senior Giovanni Hammond wrapped up his high school track career on Tuesday night on the grandest stage in Tennessee prep sports, finishing fifth in the TSSAA Class AA Boys 100-Meter Run at the Track and Field Championships at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.

Dyersburg sprinter Manneh takes sixth in 200-Meter Dash

Lady Trojan junior runner Zainab Manneh brought her track season to a close on Tuesday evening as she competed in the TSSAA Class AA Girls Track Meet and came away with a sixth-place finish in the 200-Meter Dash at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.

Choctaw baseball gets it done on Day One

Though the Choctaws started out a little slow on Tuesday in the opening round of the TSSAA Class AAA Baseball State Tournament bracket at Blackman High School in Murfreesboro, the Dyer County nine were able to string some hits together in one inning then capitalize on what the defense gave them in the next frame on the way to a 5-0 win over Tennessee High to open the tournament.

WoodmenLife celebrates successful Family Fun Day

On Saturday, May 20, the WoodmenLife Dyer County Chapter 1225 celebrated the community by hosting a Family Fun Day at the Farmers Market Downtown Dyersburg. Organized by WoodmenLife Agent, Kirk Hickman and Chapter Officers Britt Atkins (Event organizer/planner), Megan Hickman, Terrye Warren, Laura Dennison, Sabrina Rogers, and LB Atkins. Volunteers also included Mike Dennison and Rick Warren. The event offered free admission, free food, bouncy houses, face painting, door prizes, and live music entertainment.

Finley Elementary becomes STEM Designated; receives $35K program grant

On Tuesday, May 24, Finley Elementary School students were treated to a petting zoo, pizza, and numerous outdoor activities all celebrating the school’s recent STEM Designation. Finley Elementary School’s STEM program is offered to all students in grades pre-k through 5th, roughly 250 students in total.
