Glenda Kay Cartwright, 69, of Dyersburg, TN passed away at her home on July 29th, 2023. Glenda was born on February 25, 1954, in Dyersburg, TN to the late Raymond & Ethel Summers. She is survived by two sons and eight grandchildren. She enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with family and friends. Glenda was a very social person and always a joy to be with. DPD seeks armed robbery suspect

Special to the State Gazette August 2, 2023, around 11:00 p.m., DPD responded to an armed robbery at the Neighborhood Market, 100 Gordon Street. Officers were informed by store personnel that a black male wearing all black and a ski mask armed with an AR-15 style long gun entered the store demanding money. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 285-TIPS, 311, or the Criminal Investigation Division at 288-7679...

Dyer County Archivist to give talk about one of the first homes built in Dyersburg

Marilyn Holmes, Dyer County Archivist, will do a presentation on one of the first homes built in Dyersburg back in 1821. The presentation will be held at 5:00 on Tuesday, August 8th, in the Professional Development Center at 305 College Street in downtown Dyersburg.
