The 2nd annual Caregivers Resource Expo was held on Thursday, November 2, at the Dyersburg library. Hospices and other providers gathered to meet the public and to distribute information about their services for those needing end of life care and for the elderly who need special care.

78th annual Kiwanis Goodfellows food-to-families drive seeks applicants and donors

Kiwanis is accepting applications from people and families who need a little help with having a good meal this holiday season. The 2023 Goodfellows application is now available. You may nominate someone in need of receiving a food box, or you may apply for your own household. This is a true community effort that Kiwanis cannot do alone.

ABWA hosts 14th Annual Girl’s Night Out raising over $3K

The 14th Annual Girl’s Night Out welcomed a large crowd to the Lannom Center Thursday night. Hosted by the Southern Accent Chapter of the ABWA, Girls’ Night Out provides local businesswomen with a platform in which to market their goods, while also raising money for a good cause, as all proceeds go toward providing scholarships for students attending Dyersburg State Community College [DSCC].

Dyersburg visitors keep hotels full, prompt building of new Hampton Inn

In September, the City of Dyersburg announced that a new Hampton Inn is being built and will add 85 rooms to the county’s hotel industry. The existing Hampton on Mall Loop Road will not close. According to manager Nola Martin, when the new Hampton is completed sometime next year, “Hilton has a new conversion plan” and will rebrand its smaller hotels, including Dyersburg’s, under the name “Spark.”

Trojan football hosts first-round Playoff Bound Steak dinner at DMS

With the postseason getting underway on Friday night, the Dyersburg Trojan football team got its annual tradition of dining before the first-round game with the Playoff Bound Steak Dinner which was hosted by Dyersburg Middle School. Choctaws win battle of Indians, move on to 2nd round

After a loss to Haywood in the Region 7-4A Championship, Dyer County found themselves hosting the Chiefs of Craigmont High School from Memphis. Although the air was cold in Newbern, the Choctaws run attack was scorching hot, as the Choctaws handled the Chiefs 40-6 and moved on in the TSSAA Class 4A Playoffs.

Dyersburg dominates Memphis East; moves to 11-0

The Dyersburg football team headed into the playoffs unbeaten and kept their winning streak going in the opening round of the TSSAA Class 3A Playoffs on Friday night at J.C. Sawyers Stadium with a 56-20 win over visiting Memphis East.

Traffic stop finds gang injunction violation, illegal weapon, and drug seizure

Thursday afternoon, November 2, a Dyersburg police officer arrested Jabrell Gauldin, 20, Dyersburg, following a traffic stop for abatement of nuisance (violation of the gang injunction), unlawful possession of a weapon, armed during the commission of a dangerous felony, and possession of marijuana with intent to sell. Gauldin is prohibited from being around firearms or drugs and is prohibited from being within the designated areas as defined by the gang injunction issued through Dyer County Chancery Court at the request of the Dyersburg Police Department and District Attorney General Danny Goodman’s office.
