Lady Trojan third quarter propels DHS to opening night win

Though the Lady Bobcats were able to keep it close through much of the first half, a dominant third quarter by the Dyersburg girls proved to be the difference as the Lady Trojans (1-0) took a 62-33 win over McNairy Central in the Round House in Selmer on Tuesday night to open the 2023-24 basketball season.

In a low-scoring season opener on the road in Selmer, the Trojans jumped out to a good start to the fourth quarter, outscoring the Bobcats 15-6 over the first five minutes of the final frame to take a 64-44 win over McNairy Central on Tuesday night.

Law and Local Government Committees assemble, bring items to CLB

The Dyer County Legislative Board (CLB) met Monday evening, November 14, to hear issues brought by multiple county commissions. Among the items brought before the board were requests from the Sheriff’s department for permission to sell surplus vehicles, from the Ethics Committee to appoint a central ethics contact person, from the Budget Committee a number of items including the use of grants for SROs and an inmate reentry program, and other items from the Insurance and the Local Government Commissions. Also heard were items concerning zoning and the Election Commission.

Finance Committee ponders investments and TCRS retirement plan

The Dyer County Finance Committee met on Tuesday, November 14 to discuss two agenda items: an update on county investments and the Tennessee Consolidate Retirement Service (TCRS) for all county employees.
