Totalitarian dictators had ruined the economies and spirits of East Europeans. The people had taken all they could. Unrest spread across the countries behind what Churchill called “the Iron Curtain.” By 1989, Russia was happy to loosen its hold.

Pandemonium reigns in the Murphy Center!” Those words were spoken by longtime Dyersburg High School broadcaster Charles Dawson may have been the first ones which came into his mind as the clock ran out on the Lady Trojans’ 41-39 victory over Upperman in the Class AAA State Championship Game on Saturday night in Murfreesboro, but they were words so many DHS fans had longed to hear.
