DCHS students recognized for artwork during UT Martin High School Juried Art Show

Special to the State Gazette Numerous Dyer County High School [DCHS] students were recognized for their artwork. They were awarded March 15, 2024 during the UT Martin High School Juried Art Show, where students from around the state submitted over 400 works of art to be exhibited in the UTM gallery for a week. 12 DCHS students, with other students from across Tennessee, participated in college art classes throughout the day, followed by lunch and awards. ...

Newbern traffic stop nets suspected drugs, alleged perpetrator in custody

On April 1, 2024, at approximately 7:19 p.m., an officer with the Newbern Police Department stopped a Honda SUV for a traffic violation on Washington Street. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Amber James, 30, of Newbern.

Dyersburg City Board grants single event beer permits

The Dyersburg City Board of Mayor and Alderman met on Monday night, April 2, and voted on granting beer permits to the restaurant Takos Y Mas and to two concerns for individual events. Additionally, the board voted to award a bid for fencing at the Soccer Complex.
