Trojan soccer shuts out Westview

Dyersburg’s soccer team got its week off to a strong start on Monday night at J.C. Sawyers Stadium as the Trojan took a 3-0 win over visiting Westview. After a scoreless first half, the Trojans got on the board early in the second 40 minutes of action. Just three minutes into the second half, Dyersburg got a breakaway from senior Nick Medlin who raced down the field for a one-on-one shot which got by the Charger goalkeeper. Director Worley tells School Board of State’s joint resolution honoring Dyersburg City Schools

The Dyersburg City School Board met April 1 for their monthly session, at which they heard of a joint resolution from State Representative Rusty Grills and State Senator Jeff Yarbro. Also at the meeting, a student presented a project which was designed to improve security operations, and members of the Junior American Citizen Club told the board of their organization.

James T “Bubba” Cobb to oppose Grills in run for State Representative of District 77

It’s official. Dyer County Commissioner James T “Bubba” Cobb has picked up a petition to run against State Representative Rusty Grills in the 2024 Tennessee House of Representatives election. The Election Commission verified that Cobb picked his petition up early Wednesday morning, April 3, nearing the 11th hour of the filing deadline on Thursday, April 4.

County School Board OKs resolution opposing voucher bill, discuss withdrawal of state funding from tutoring program

The Dyer County Board of Education convened Tuesday evening for its regular monthly meeting. This month’s meeting was held at Fifth Consolidated Elementary School, where board members were taken on a tour of the school’s new wing following the meeting adjournment.

Lady Trojans bounce back, dominate Munford to open week

Coming off a pair of disappointing losses last week in District 13AAA play, Dyersburg’s softball team opened the week off with a strong performance on Monday evening as the Lady Trojans battled from an early deficit twice to take an 11-3 win over visiting Munford at Doug French Field.

Curtains rise for “Silent But Deadly” at DHS; showtimes begin Thursday

Dyersburg High School [DHS] Trojan Drama announces the cast and crew of its upcoming murder mystery, “Silent, But Deadly,” by Don Zolidis. It will be presented Thursday, April 4 at 7 p.m.; Friday, April 5 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, April 6 at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, April 7 at 2 p.m. in the Little Theatre at Dyersburg High School.

Patricia Williams recognized as Alpha Kapp Alpha Sorority’s Community Volunteer

The Xi Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. celebrated their 116th anniversary at New Hope CME Church in Henning Tennessee, March 24. Patricia Williams of Dyersburg received the Community Award for her 11 years of service as the Church Clerk at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. She has also held volunteer positions with the NAACP, the Democratic Party, relay for life, the YMCA, and the Salvation Army.
